UNANIMOUS SUPPORT!

The presidents of the member countries and the high representatives of the government of the United States have fully supported the ADD+USA Business Council, which was conceived  within the framework of the Alliance for Development in Democracy (ADD), and which was formed with the objective of seeking the economic development of its member countries, Costa Rica, Ecuador, the Dominican Republic and Panama, and raise the quality of life of their people.

U.S. President Joe Biden himself noted that the alliance represents "the kind of inspiring engagement" that will be critical to safeguarding shared democratic values across America in 2022 and beyond.

In addition, U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris said, "There are some basic principles that have guided our democracies for years: human rights, the rule of law, equality for all. Costa Rica, the Dominican Republic and Panama: you are doing that work today in our hemisphere, and our administration stands ready to partner with you on these initiatives."

“Costa Rica will assume a liaison role with U.S. governments, other countries and foreign investment promotion institutions.”

Ecuador joins the Business Council of the Alliance for Development in Democracy.

Robert Moss, President of the Business Council of the Alliance for Development Ecuador, said that the private sector is the engine of development of nations "this opportunity to join efforts among the private sector of our nations, where we promote together development in democracy, an environment of greater well-being and aim together at  a fair, inclusive and sustainable development, it is unique, and we must take advantage of it."

Towards new links of the trade pillar of the Alliance for Development in Democracy.

The challenging context of the global economy, caused by the geopolitical conflicts that added to the post-COVID19 pandemic situation, has put pressure on the reconfiguration of global value chains (GVCs) and foreign direct investment (FDI) in the world. This represents opportunities for countries with the geographical characteristics, service infrastructure and capabilities of Central American and Caribbean countries, neighbors of the United States (its main market) and potential recipients of their companies to maintain operations and services in a close environment.

The four member countries of the ADD (Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador) are, together, the third largest trading partner in the region, so among the strategic themes of the alliance are economic participation and trade structures, as well as investments in member countries.
